سلطان المشائخ، عارف نورانی، غوث وقت، حضرت خواجہ ابو الحسن علی بن جعفر خرقانی رحمۃ اللہ تعالی علیہ کی ولادت 350ھ میں خرقان، ضلع شاہرود، صوبہ سمنان، ایران میں ہوئی۔ آپ کا سلسہ چار واسطوں سے خواجہ بایزید بسطامی سے جا ملتا ہے۔ آپ اوتاد و ابدال کے قطب اور اہل طریقت و حقیقت کے پیشوا تھے۔ ہمیشہ ریاضت و مشاہدہ میں مشغول اور حضور و مشاہدہ میں مستغرق رہتے۔ نفس کی مخالفت میں چالیس سال تک ٹھنڈے پانی کا ایک گھونٹ تک نہ پیا۔ سلطان محمود غزنوی آپ کے بڑے عقیدت مند تھے۔ 10 محرم 425ھ شب منگل وصال فرمایا، مزار مبارک خرقان میں دعاؤں کی قبولیت کا مقام ہے۔ (مرآۃ الاسرار، نفحات الانس، تذکرہ مشائخ نقشبندیہ)

King of Gnostics, Beacon of Light, Ghous of Era, Khwajah Abu Al-Hasan Ali bin Ja’far Kharqani (Alayhir Rahmah) was born in 350 AH in Kharqan, Semnan Province, Iran. His spiritual chain reaches Khwajah Ba-Yazeed Bastami through four channels. He was the Qutb of Awtad and Abdaal and leader of the people of Tariqah and Haqiqah. He would always remain in the state of devout worship and ecstasy, and immersed in the observation of the divine secrets. He did not even take a sip of cold water in opposition to his nafs (inner-self) for 40 years. Sultan Mahmood of Ghazni was his ardent devotee.
