امام القراء، حضرت سیدنا ابو عمرو عثمان دانی مغربی مالکی رحمۃ اللہ تعالی علیہ کی ولادت قرطبہ اندلس (موجودہ اسپین) میں 371ھ میں ہوئی۔ آپ قرآن کریم کی روایات، تفسیر، معانی، طرق، علم اعراب اور ضبط کے امام، بارہ سے زائد کتب کے مصنف اور مستجاب الدعوات تھے۔ پاک وہند اور ترکی میں رائج مصحف شریف (قران مجید) کا رسم عثمانی آپ کے منہج کے مطابق ہے۔ 15 شوال المکرم 444ھ میں وصال فرمایا، دانیہ اندلس کے قبرستان میں آرام فرما ہوئے۔ (سیر اعلام النبلاء)

Imam al-Qurra’, Sayyiduna Abu ‘Amr ‘Usman Daani Maghribi Maliki (Alayhir Rahmah) was born in 371 AH in Córdoba Andalusia (currently Spain). He was the Imam of Quranic narrations, exegesis, connotation, chain of narrators, diacritization, discipline, and rulings. He was a Mustajab ad-Da’waat i.e. his prayers and supplications were answered, and also the author of more than a dozen books. The ‘Usmani style of the blessed Mushaf (Holy Qur’an) commonly recited in Pakistan, India, and Turkey is according to his method. He passed away on the 15th of Shawwal 444 AH and was laid to rest in the graveyard of Dénia, Andalusia. [Siyar A’laam an-Nubala]
